Sirona Medical Social Work department is currently seeking a SEND Tribunal and Complaints Officer on an agency basis.

Position Overview

We are currently looking for a SEND Tribunal and Complaints Officer to join our agency at Sirona Medical Social Work department. Lead the case management of SENDIST appeals, ensuring timely and effective responses. Represent the Local Authority at tribunal hearings, defending the appropriateness of proposed service provisions. Promote early resolution by attending and advising on resolution meetings with families and professionals. Act as the main point of contact for families, schools, legal representatives, and other stakeholders involved in appeals or mediation. Prepare comprehensive case bundles and ensure all documentation is submitted within statutory timescales. Support and advise witnesses to ensure they are well-prepared for hearings. Maintain accurate records and provide regular reports to inform service improvements. Manage the SEND Tribunal inbox and coordinate communications with relevant teams. Obtain costings from education providers and other services to support the appeals process. Lead on workforce development by supporting training and reflective practice across the SEND team and wider partnership. Engage with schools and agencies to promote best practices in assessment and person-centered planning.

Qualifications/Experience
  • Minimum 2 years as a Local Authority representative.
  • At least 5 years’ experience working in a legal or tribunal-related environment.
  • Senior-level experience in SEND casework.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with families and professionals.
