Trident empowers their clients through intelligent & predictive analytics, currently focused on delivering impactful insights in the water industry. The Opportunity: I am recruiting for an experienced Data Scientist to join their growing team of 10 talented individuals. In the first 3-4 months, you will focus on a key client engagement, building predictive models that enhance water system management. Your work will play a critical role in predicting leaks and bursts, forecasting leak rates, and anticipating customer demand—delivering real-world value through advanced data science.

You will have the opportunity to develop your technical skills through mentorship from the founders and also help lead a team of juniors. Over time, this role will expand its responsibilities into other client accounts and tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design and deploy predictive models for leak and burst detection in water networks.
2. Perform time-series forecasting of customer demand and leak rates.
3. Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements into actionable data science solutions.
4. Attend client-facing meetings, explaining the solutions on offer.
5. Use SQL to extract, clean, and transform data from complex databases.
6. Contribute to and improve MLOps workflows for scalable, maintainable model deployment.
7. Clearly present insights and recommendations to both internal teams and client stakeholders.

Requirements:

• BSc or MSc in a relevant subject such as STEM, Data Science, Machine Learning, etc.
• 2-3 years of commercial experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python for data analysis, modelling, and deployment.
• Advanced skills in SQL for data manipulation and querying.
• Strong understanding of machine learning, statistics, and time-series forecasting techniques.
• Proven ability to communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Familiarity with MLOps principles including deployment, version control, and monitoring is a plus.
• A strong interest in data science will also be considered.
• Self-driven with the ability to manage and deliver complex projects independently.

The role offers a salary of up to £45,000 per annum and includes benefits such as 25 days of annual leave, a company pension, life assurance (4x salary), a company income protection scheme, and more.

The business is moving into new offices in Cheshire East, providing parking, padel courts, an on-site gym, cafes, and more. The role is primarily remote, with occasional office visits, which can be more frequent if desired.
