Design Manager/Technical Coordinator

We are presently searching for a Design Manager/Technical Coordinator for our London office. The individual, while working under general supervision of a Senior Technical Coordinator and/or Architect or Project Manager, provides design support primarily in project administration, design development and construction documents.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  1. Creates construction documents (CDs)
  2. Manages client relationship for small and medium sized projects from initiation through completion, including work performed by internal and external resources
  3. Review CDs to ensure compliance with firm standards, mechanical, building systems, building regulations and accessibility requirements
  4. For smaller projects may oversee all CD production and review
  5. Coordinates with Senior technical staff and design staff to provide technical solutions for design dilemmas
  6. Manages project through construction phase
  7. Manages overall client relationship from initial assessment of client needs, through design concept presentations and final delivery of project. Ensure positive relationships resulting in additional business or referred work
  8. Coordinates engineer’s and consultant’s work to ensure compliance with design solution and timely submission of documents
  9. Carry out or assist in field surveys
  10. Ensures adherence to set budget and immediately informs Senior Technical Coordinator/Architect/PM and/or client of any potential variances to the budget
  11. May mentor the work of Junior and Immediate Designers
  12. Oversee tasks and provide feedback on work product
  13. Conducts client interviews to determine technical requirements for the design

Qualifications:

  1. Graduate of an architecture, interior architecture, or interior design programme
  2. 6+ years’ experience in corporate interior design projects
  3. Experience working on projects in the UK and/or EU.
  4. Advanced Revit abilities
  5. Detailed experience of concept design and familiarity with suppliers
  6. Advanced experience of construction documentation and coordination with engineers
  7. Must have a right to work in the UK
  8. Must be in the office at least 3 days a week

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Advanced interior architecture detailing skills
  2. Extensive knowledge of the range of design principles and aesthetics
  3. Extensive documentation and field observational skills
  4. Extensive knowledge of CDs and procedures
  5. Extensive knowledge of building systems, regulations and accessibility requirements
  6. Working knowledge of space planning methodology
  7. Familiarity with furnishings and finishes
  8. Intermediate sketching and rendering skills
  9. Excellent Adobe Creative Suite abilities
  10. Client facing and professional
  11. Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  12. Intermediate presentation and graphic communication skills
