Kaplan Living Glasgow, student accommodation, houses 276 full-time students mostly studying at the Glasgow International College in partnership with the University of Glasgow. Located nearby to the University of Glasgow’s main campus and offering 24-hour accommodation support where our students can feel happy, safe, and looked after. The successful candidate will be part of a strong team supporting the delivery and development of the residence’s services.


The Role


Our welfare officers play a vital role in supporting all our students in the residences. Living on-site, you will work in a rostered pattern to provide students with support during their first year in the UK. The welfare team provides support across a range of areas, including student experience, compliance, welfare, and administration, whilst building a strong sense of community and trust with our students. Evening and weekend work will be required.

This role requires the successful candidate to live in our residence. Due to council tax restrictions, the position is only suitable for full-time students.

Responsibilities & functions

  • Develop strong knowledge of and follow appropriate guidelines and protocols in all areas of your role
  • Promote good resident welfare and enforce behaviour policies
  • Share responsibility with the Kaplan Residence and College teams for safeguarding and duty of care for U18 students
  • Provide quick and appropriate responses via emails and other communication channels to resolve issues promptly

  • Strong communication skills, including:
    • Clear spoken English with ability to adapt language for non-native speakers
    • Ability to understand and convey information clearly
    • Ability to produce clear written reports, including incident reports
    • Quick identification of situations needing additional support
    • Prompt action and escalation when necessary, with diligent follow-up
  • Commitment to learning and adhering to guidelines and procedures
  • Ability to build trust and rapport quickly with staff and colleagues
  • Collaborative working style, ensuring timely and regular information exchange
