Our Administrative Officers within the Maintenance Enforcement Business Centre (MEBC) service play a critical role, providing excellent administrative support and customer service to Court users, judiciary, and management.
About Us
HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is an agency of the Ministry of Justice and is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil and family Courts and Tribunals in England and Wales. Our roles support our court users and colleagues within HMCTS, where people and businesses access potentially life-changing justice.
National Services manage centralised administrative and contact functions in HMCTS, and the MEBC deal with the enforcement and Case Management of Reciprocal Maintenance Orders. The basis of the work is to ensure legally agreed maintenance is paid to support the day to day living of family members, usually children.

Your role
You will provide administrative support to ensure effective case management and enforcement principles are followed. The role is mainly admin based and involves interaction with parties involved in the cases, Legal Advisors, Judiciary and stakeholders who work alongside us to administer the orders. You will need strong IT skills and be able to adapt your written communication style to an empathetic and patient manner.
You will be assigned to a team to carry out a variety of general administrative duties to progress cases through the tribunal system or provide support to other functions within HMCTS.
Your Skills And Experience
With a friendly and approachable manner, you’ll have good written and verbal communication skills with a desire to deliver proactive and effective support to customers. You’ll have great attention to detail, able to enter information into our database accurately and efficiently, and able and adapt to using various software packages. You’ll enjoy organising your time, prioritising efficiently and multi-tasking in a busy environment.

These operational roles are customer facing, requiring successful applicants to be office based to provide HMCTS services to the public.
Non-contractual hybrid working may be available. Hybrid working arrangements will be determined by the business and will only be available when it has been established that delivering the service from home can be done effectively. We cannot facilitate requests for a particular work from home/working in the office schedule.
Standard full time working hours are 37 hours per week. HMCTS welcomes part-time, flexible, and job-sharing working patterns, where they meet the demands of the role and business needs and are agreed prior to appointment. A minimum of 20 hours per week will be required for this role. The business will not be able to facilitate a non-working day on a Monday or a Friday. All applications for part-time, flexible and job-sharing working patterns will be considered in accordance with the MoJ’s Flexible Working policy.
