Job description

Hydrant Technician (8110) | Permanent contract | 14.8 hours (2 days) per week on a rolling 2-week schedule | £25,584 to £27,269 per annum/pro rata | (Grade E) | Hethersett

We are recruiting a Hydrant Technician to work within the Water Resources Team in Norfolk Fire & Rescue Service.

The role involves maintenance of statutory and private fire hydrants, in line with British Standards and national guidance agreements, working in specific locations across the county. You will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and assessing hydrants to ensure adequate provision of fire hydrants/water supplies for firefighting purposes and statutory obligations are met.

Hydrant inspections are carried out all year round, working in the open on public highways. You will be provided with a shared van and all necessary equipment to carry out the inspections, with outcomes entered on a mobile device using the Hydrant Management system, which is also used to allocate work.

You will work with a team of other technicians and office support staff to provide this vital service to operational activities.

You may also be involved in servicing and refilling of NFRS fire extinguishers in compliance with relevant British Standards.
