THE ROLE
We are seeking a proactive and people-focused Talent & People Advisor to support our rapidly growing team. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the day-to-day People function, ensuring a positive employee experience, and partnering with teams to foster a thriving workplace culture. This generalist position involves a broad range of responsibilities, including recruitment, employee relations, policy implementation, performance management, and supporting key People initiatives In addition to supporting Head Office with day-to-day people matters, the role will have primary People responsibility for our Warehouse/Unit.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working across talent acquisition and people operations, understands the unique challenges of a fulfilment center environment, and thrives in a role that combines strategic input with hands-on delivery.
This role will be based in our Head Office (currently based in Uckfield, moving to Lewes in September) 3 days per week and 2 days in our Unit/Warehouse located in Barcombe Mills.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the People Director you will be responsible for the following:
Generalist HR Support
- Provide guidance on employee relations issues, ensuring consistency, fairness, and adherence to company policies and employment law.
- Support line managers with performance management, absence management, disciplinary, and grievance processes.
- Support with People initiatives, including wellbeing, learning & development and diversity & inclusion programs.
- Support all aspects of the employee lifecycle: onboarding, development, engagement, and off boarding.
- Maintain accurate HR data and records (e.g., joiners, leavers, contracts, and changes) with support from our People Experience Assistant, and ensure all updates are reflected accurately for monthly payroll processing in coordination with the finance/outsourced payroll team.
- Own all People-related admin tasks, including the upkeep of our Employee Handbook and ensuring all people related policies, guidelines, procedures and benefits are kept up to date and effectively communicated to all team members
- Help run and analyse internal surveys and assist in coordinating our appraisal and compensation processes (as appropriate)
Recruitment Support
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process for a limited number of roles (with outsourced/embedded support during peak periods).
- Source, screen, and coordinate interviews, ensuring a smooth and professional candidate journey.
- Liaise with hiring managers and external recruitment partners as needed.
- Champion inclusive hiring practices and help build a diverse and equitable workplace.
Warehouse /Unit Support
- Act as the primary People Advisor for our warehouse/unit team, building trusted relationships with managers and employees.
- Partner with the Unit Manager to support recruitment activities including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Provide guidance on people issues specific to the Unit/Warehouse environment and ensure alignment with broader people policies.
Systems
- Be our HRIS (Human Resources Information System) super user. We currently use Humanns.
- Maintain and optimise our ATS (Applicant Tracking System) TeamTailor and ensure job postings are accurate and up to date.
- Maintain and update the People section of Notion to ensure all information is relevant, current and easy to navigate.
Who You Are
To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills / knowledge / experience:
- Prove experience in a People / Talent focussed role preferably in a fast moving scale-up environment.
- Experienced in using HRIS and ATS systems
- Strong knowledge of recruitment strategies, employment law and HR best practices.
- Ability to influence and build trusted relationships across all levels.
- Confident, solutions-focused, and adaptable to changing priorities.
