Job description

Job Description

Spirax Group PLC | Head of Group FP&A | £120k - £150k + Bonus + Benefits

Spirax Group PLC is a multi-award-winning British multinational specialising in thermal energy and fluid technology solutions. With over 135 years of heritage and a strong global presence, the company operates across sectors such as pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, and food, delivering products and services that enhance efficiency, safety, and sustainability. Rebranded in June 2024 from Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC, the company continues to lead in innovation, quality, ethics, and environmental responsibility.

The Opportunity: Head of Group FP&A

Element Recruitment is partnering with Spirax Group on a retained basis to appoint a dynamic and experienced Head of Group FP&A. This critical leadership role oversees internal reporting, financial planning, and analysis, while providing high-level support to the Executive team in enhancing business intelligence and decision-making.

The ideal candidate will combine technical excellence in FP&A, commercial finance, and management reporting with strong IT and systems skills—particularly in group planning and data analytics. A key focus is on leveraging Spirax’s rich data landscape to drive insight, change, and performance improvement.

Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, given the business's complex and international structure. You should be a natural business partner—credible, engaging, and influential—with a continuous improvement mindset and a high emotional intelligence.

Leadership experience is crucial, along with a passion for mentoring and talent development. A curious, collaborative, and forward-thinking personality will align well with Spirax’s progressive culture.

This is a high-impact role reporting to an ambitious Group Finance Director, offering career development and exposure to senior leaders within a global PLC. Strong project and time management skills will ensure success in delivering results while maintaining team wellbeing and work-life balance.

We are looking for someone, who also understands the importance of processes, systems and controls. This position really does have huge scope for development, change and overall business improvement, but you will also be a strong advocate for sound, robust and risk mitigating controls. As stated, some experience in external reporting, financial accounting, etc is desirable, but not essential. However, an experience in owning and managing the control processes and risk management is essential.

Responsibilities will include:

Financial Planning and Budgeting – Oversee the annual budgeting process

Forecasting – Lead continuous forecasting processes for short and medium term

Financial Analysis and reporting – Generate detailed financial analysis and reports

Performance Management – Establish KPIs to track business performance

Strategic Business partnering – Collaborate with the 3 businesses and departments

Team leadership – Lead and mentor the FP&A and Corporate overheads teams

Process improvement – Leverage technology and best practices to drive innovation

Your Profile:

•Qualified Accountant (CIMA / ACA / ACCA)

•Strong data mind, able to use data to improve and drive insight

•Collaborative, sharing ideas and implementing them

•Diverse thinker with strong emotional intelligence

•Good controls and process management background
