Job description

To provide support to the Lead Divisional Pharmacist for Clinical Commissioning and Homecare (LDPCCHC) and Team Lead High Cost Medicines and Homecare (TLHCMHC), ensuring that all homecare prescriptions and invoices are processed efficiently.

To assist with administrative duties as requested by the LDPCCHC and TLHCMHC. Duties may include supporting the development and update of specific operating procedures (SOPs).

To maintain the homecare database accurately and in a timely manner, escalating any issues to the TLHCMHC.

The Post Holder will provide a high-quality customer care first point of contact service with clinical and non-clinical teams across both sites, relating to prescriptions, invoices, or any other issues related to the home delivery of medicines. The types of persons the Post Holder will communicate with include:

  • Clinicians (Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacists)
  • Finance staff
  • Homecare provider staff
  • Patients and relatives

To support patient experience activities, including audits related to patient satisfaction.

To contribute to the review and evaluation of administrative systems, procedures, and policies to facilitate improvements and developments.

To support the organisation in achieving excellence by promoting equal opportunities, fairness, equity, and inclusion through best practice working.

To follow all homecare policies and procedures to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, providing feedback and updates as systems change.

To open and organise post, prioritising prescriptions sent to the homecare team during the day, and escalating urgent prescriptions to homecare providers via email and telephone.

To process all homecare prescriptions through the WellSky (formerly JAC) system daily, upload prescriptions onto the homecare administration system, and resolve prescription queries by liaising with:

  • Clinical pharmacists
  • Specialist nurses
  • Prescribers
  • Relevant homecare provider staff

To answer homecare telephone calls professionally, eliciting necessary information to address queries, and liaising with providers and patients to ensure timely deliveries.

To receive invoices via the Pharmacy JAC system, process payments through finance, and maintain records of processed invoices, monitoring expenditure against budgets.

To regularly check the generic homecare email account and escalate problems or queries as needed.
