• Write about all things science, planet earth, animals, archaeology, space, health, and more for Live Science.
• Create news and features, attend events, and contribute to social and video channels.

What you'll be doing

Our mission is to empower and inspire readers with the tools to understand and appreciate the wonders of the world. As a Staff Writer, you will contribute across the brand—covering news, features, short videos, podcasts, and social media. You will cover a range of science topics, combining excellent writing skills with expert quotes and research to produce reliable, up-to-date content that appeals to curious minds.

Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief of Live Science, your responsibilities include:

• Writing news and features for the main website.
• Uploading articles to the CMS, selecting appropriate images, and linking related content.
• Fact-checking and ensuring all articles adhere to Live Science's style guide.
• Collaborating with the Social Media Editor on short videos, social posts, and off-site activities.
• Interviewing and working with leading science figures to ensure content is informed by qualified experts, providing trustworthy commentary on major stories.

Experience that will put you ahead of the curve

• Excellent written English and experience writing for the web.
• Strong knowledge of science topics, with research skills and previous experience in science writing.
• Enthusiasm for creating visual science content for social media.
• Relevant qualification or degree in sciences.
