Key Responsibilities
- Covering the Championship club, requiring a digitally savvy journalist capable of running live match day blogs, conducting exclusive interviews, and holding the club to account by asking the questions fans want answered.
- The successful candidate will be passionate about reporting on Watford FC, embrace working in a competitive environment, and have the dedication to break news.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- An NQJ qualification with a proven track record in sports journalism.
- Digital experience is essential; video and photo skills are advantageous.
- A passion for sports at all levels and for producing accurate, engaging, and original content.
- Ability to produce sports reports and features through research, interviews, attendance at matches, and events.
- Ability to maintain and build contacts, understanding the importance of relationships in journalism.
- Knowledge of Watford FC, its players, staff, and operations is beneficial.
- Experience covering a professional football club is advantageous.
- Strong social media skills, with the ability to recognize and act on story opportunities appropriately.
- Flexibility to respond quickly to events, working as both an individual and a team leader when needed.
- A full, clean UK driving licence.
