Job description

Higher Level Teaching Assistant / HLTA

Location: Sittingbourne

Employment Type: Full time

Start Date: April 2025 / September 2025

Salary: Competitive rates of pay

Academics Rochester are in need of experienced TA's / HLTA's to work within schools across Sittingbourne and Sheppey.

There has been a high demand for HLTA's to support schools with PPA cover across KS1 and 2, as well as working with small groups of pupils.

On occasions, there may also be a request to teach the whole class.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support teaching and learning by working with individuals or small groups of pupils under the direction of teaching staff.
  2. Be responsible for the whole class in the absence of the teacher for short periods.
  3. Deliver high-quality support to children and young people, accelerating their progress.
  4. Develop high-quality resources.

Qualifications and Experience:
  1. GCSE Maths and English Grade 4 or equivalent.
  2. Evidence of additional qualifications suitable to TA role NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant.
  3. HLTA qualification or equivalent.
  4. Experience of working and supporting primary age children.
  5. Experience of carrying out intervention programmes.
  6. Knowledge of National Curriculum.
  7. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and an active listener.
  8. Highly motivated and the ability to motivate children.
  9. Assist children on an individual basis, in small group and whole class work.
  10. Good ICT skills.
