Referment is partnering with a top-performing hedge fund that is seeking a Software Engineer with strong FIX connectivity experience to join their high-calibre Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a world-class trading environment that values autonomy, innovation, and technical excellence.
You will join a tight-knit team of developers, building and supporting tools that underpin the fund's trading and investment workflows, with a particular focus on trading systems integration and FIX protocol. This is a highly visible role, working closely with traders, portfolio managers, and other stakeholders to deliver robust solutions across the full SDLC.
Technologies & Platform
Core platform: .NET (C#), SQL Server, KDB+.
UI: WPF desktop.
Scripting/strategy layer: Python.
Messaging and connectivity: FIX protocol, REST APIs.
Key Responsibilities For The Role Include

• Lead the implementation and enhancement of FIX connectivity solutions for trade execution and post-trade workflows.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business and trading needs.
• Build reusable components to improve scalability and system performance.
• Ensure robust, low-latency, and high-throughput integration with external venues and counterparties.
• Monitor and support live trading environments and troubleshoot FIX-related issues.
• Contribute to the broader engineering strategy and codebase via design reviews and clean, testable code.
  

Essential Skills

• Proven experience delivering and supporting FIX protocol-based solutions in a trading or capital markets environment.
• Strong C#/.NET development skills with solid understanding of multi-threading, architecture, design patterns, and real-time systems.
• Python proficiency for scripting and API development.
• Experience working across the full SDLC in fast-paced financial environments.
• Strong background with relational databases (SQL Server) and modern dev tools (Git, JIRA, etc.).
