The Role

Based anywhere across the UK, the EC& Field Service Engineer will have 2 main responsibilities;

1. Worldwide Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) onsite technical assistance to customers during: overhaul, repair, maintenance, upgrades, fault finding and installation and commissioning of steam turbines.
2. To provide a full engineering service support for our customers. To develop and manage exceptional customer relationships through excellence in terms of technical capability and also through personal interaction with customers.

What will you do?

Accountabilities;

  • To deliver a very high technical and professional level of service to our customers, with significant focus on safety and quality. The aim is to achieve on time in full, to schedule and right first time.
  • Provide detailed Site Reports to the required standard that among other things highlight actions which may need to be taken and seek opportunities for improvement.
  • Supervise the activities of Company or Customer supplied Technicians, be responsible for their day-to-day safety requirements, site activities and discipline.
  • Follow health and safety at work procedures and complete required Risk Assessments.
What do you bring?

Essential skills, knowledge and behaviours

  • Experience with the following PLC and HMI programming tools. Read and troubleshoot Ladder / Function block for the following systems; Rockwell - Studio 5000 and RS Logix 5000, Factory Talk, Logix 500. Siemens - PCS7, Step 7, WinCC, TIA Portal, Schneider - Control Expert / SCADA Expert, Governor – Woodward 505, AVR – Baslter DECs 200/250
  • Familiar with the following communications - Modbus Communications RS485 and TCP. Profibus and Profinet, Control Net. Basic TCP Networking.
  • Familiar with Power Generation on Gensets 5-30MW areas include general governor and excitation Systems. Operational modes - Droop and Isochronous control, Active and Reactive power, Pressure regulation.
  • Knowledge of site maintenance and repair of Steam Turbines
  • Develop and manage good customer relationships through the provision of professional customer management
  • Proven experience of a strong focus on health and safety
  • Ability to supervise others at site during complex installation, commissioning and maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or as an individual
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and able to produce detailed written technical documents including but not limited to risk assessments, site reports, root cause analysis of failures, method statements, scopes of work and project plans.
  • Experienced working on international assignments including where English is not the main language
  • Hold a full UK driving licence

Desirable skills, knowledge and behaviours

  • Knowledge of site installation and commissioning of Steam Turbines. Training to be provided if required.
  • Previous experience working offshore.
