Job description

Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for EC&I Engineers (all levels) to be located in either Warrington or Newcastle on a permanent basis. Our client can also consider Knutsford and Gloucester as office locations.

Key responsibilities could include:

  • Support the design, development, testing, and implementation of EC&I systems within nuclear projects
  • Produce design calculations, technical specifications, drawings, and reports to project and regulatory requirements
  • Support requirements capture and a Systems Engineering approach for new architectures
  • Contribute across the project lifecycle from bid generation, through concept and detailed design development to installation and commissioning
  • Work on systems integration, testing, and validation of PLC, SCADA, and simulator systems
  • Assist in the preparation of design safety documentation and compliance with nuclear safety standards
  • Participate in site surveys, inspections, and commissioning activities
  • Contribute to problem-solving, technical investigations, and root cause analysis
  • Produce high-quality technical reports
  • Build and maintain valuable relationships with peers, partners, and clients

Skills and Qualifications:

  • MEng, MSc, BEng, or BSc or equivalent in EC&I or another relevant discipline
  • Working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant professional body
  • An awareness of civil nuclear plant systems, structures, and components and associated design and assessment guidelines
  • Knowledge of EC&I principles, design tools, and relevant guidelines, standards, and practices
  • Knowledge and experience in the systematic design lifecycle of a C&I system
  • Knowledge of high integrity hardware or software-based control systems for industrial equipment
  • Motivated team member with the ability to work to deadlines and communicate project progress
  • Good communication skills and ability to articulate information to a broad range of stakeholders
