Job summary

Qualifications

• HNC or NVQ3 in electrical engineering or related discipline is required.
• Industrial EC&I maintenance experience is required.
• Broad understanding of power-station operations or similar environments.
• Strong knowledge of EC&I maintenance across multiple plant areas.
• IOSH qualification or equivalent preferred.
• Strong planning and organisational skills and ability to lead.

Responsibilities

• Deliver preventative and corrective EC&I maintenance safely and to required quality standards.

Job description

Working arrangement: Site-based with some flexibility for hybrid working

Our client, a multinational energy company, is looking for an experienced Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Maintenance Engineer to join its Engineering team at Enfield.

This is a senior-level position with responsibility for providing technical leadership, mentoring colleagues and supporting the continued development of the maintenance team.

The role

You will deliver an efficient and effective preventative and corrective EC&I maintenance service across the plant. You will ensure all maintenance is completed safely, to the required quality standards, according to agreed plans and in compliance with established work-control procedures.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the delivery of preventative EC&I maintenance in accordance with the maintenance strategy, contract-management arrangements and work-planning and scheduling processes.
• Managing corrective maintenance within timescales determined by operational risk and plant requirements.
• Maintaining and improving electrical, control and instrumentation equipment, including plant instrumentation, control systems and associated electrical assets.
• Providing technical support for fault-finding, diagnostics and the resolution of complex EC&I problems.
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of the maintenance-management system through job-plan reviews, failure reporting and corrective action system (FRACAS) processes.
• Conducting root-cause investigations and implementing effective corrective actions.
• Developing and managing the budget required to deliver EC&I maintenance within your area of responsibility.
• Improving safety performance through regular audits and reviews of work-control processes.
• Designing and delivering low- and medium-risk technical improvement projects.
• Providing technical guidance, coaching and mentoring to engineers and other members of the maintenance team.

You will need:

• An HNC, or an engineering craft-based qualification at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, in electrical engineering, control and instrumentation engineering or another relevant discipline.
• Appropriate industrial EC&I maintenance experience.
• A broad understanding of power-station operations or a comparable process, utilities or heavy-industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience of EC&I maintenance across multiple plant areas.
• Experience of electrical and instrumentation fault-finding, diagnostics and problem-solving.
• Knowledge of the policies and procedures governing power-station or industrial-plant maintenance.
• A good working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation and standards, ideally supported by an IOSH qualification or equivalent.
• Strong planning and organisational skills, including effective prioritisation, resource management and long-term strategic thinking.
• The ability to provide technical leadership and mentor other team members.
