Job summary

Bilfinger UK is seeking a EC&I Design Engineer to lead electrical and control system design within project packages. The role requires ensuring designs meet safety and quality standards, and aligning with client expectations across disciplines.

You will work within a structured design engineering environment, contributing to risk assessments and safety documentation while collaborating with CAD, mechanical, and process teams. The position is based at Bilfinger UK's offices with on-site duties.

Qualifications

• Minimum of HNC / HND in EC&I Engineering or related discipline.
• Knowledge of EC&I design life cycle for projects.
• Experience in structured design engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of Control & Instrumentation and Electrical elements of project design packages.
• Complete C&I and electrical designs to high standard on time and budget.
• Create risk assessments and method statements as required.
• Liaise with Mechanical, Process, Software and CAD for interface design.
• Attend client meetings for design reviews and progress updates.
• Prepare documentation for Formal Safety Assessments and O&M manuals.
• Peer review designs of fellow Engineers.
• Participate in Design Working Groups to enhance design standards.

The Role & Responsibilities

• Taking ownership of the Control & Instrumentation and Electrical elements of project design packages.
• Complete Control & Instrumentation and electrical Designs to the required high standard on time and on budget.
• Create Risk assessments and Method statements where necessary.
• Liaising with various disciplines including Mechanical, Process, Software and CAD in respect to interface design.
• Attending meetings with the client for design reviews and progress updates.
• Prepare documentation for Formal Safety Assessments and for O&M manuals.
• Peer review the designs of fellow Engineers.
• Participate in Design Working Groups to enhance the design standards within the department.

Experience & Qualifications

• You must possess a minimum of HNC / HND in EC&I Engineering or an associated discipline.
• Knowledge and experience of the design life cycle of a project.
• Experience working in a structured design engineering environment.
• Previous experience of producing EC&I designs for hazardous area applications would be desirable although we would consider applications from individuals who have a working knowledge of ATEX regulations.
• Experience of producing designs for the oil & gas industry.
