Job summary

EC&I Partners in Rochdale is seeking an EC&I Design Engineer (electrical bias) to join a growing engineering team. The role offers a salary of £38,000–£55,000 per year, with hybrid or office-based options and a 37.5-hour week.

You will produce electrical and instrumentation designs for LV, ELV, and hazardous areas, develop drawings and documentation, and perform design calculations using AMTECH and Dialux. Exposure to hydrogen blending projects is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification is essential.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical or EC&İ design.
  • Experience with hazardous area design (COMPEX 8–12 preferred).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar software.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality electrical and instrumentation designs across LV, ELV, and hazardous areas (ATEX/IEC 60079).
  • Interpret and develop detailed drawings, schematics, and design documentation.
  • Carry out design calculations using tools such as AMTECH and Dialux.
  • Occasionally attend local sites for surveys and kick-off meetings.
  • Mentor junior EC&I engineers (for senior candidates).
  • Collaborate with other engineers and contribute to HAZOPs and design reviews.

What Our Client Is Looking For

Essential:

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of G17/G35 and IEC 60079 standards
  • Gas sector experience
  • Commissioning or inspection background
