A leading health organization in Lancashire and South Cumbria is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead transformative changes in health service delivery. The role demands strategic leadership, partnership skills, and a focus on community health outcomes. The successful candidate will manage a diverse budget and workforce, aiming to improve health equity and service efficiency. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of health care in a complex and diverse population.
Chief Executive Officer, Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board
United Kingdom
Since July 2022, NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) has held responsibility for planning NHS services, including hospitals, primary care, community services, and those previously planned by clinical commissioning groups (CCGs).
As well as the chair and chief executive, membership of the board includes partner members from local authorities, NHS trusts/foundation trusts, and primary care. The board also invites regular participants from VCFSE, local Healthwatch, public health, and children and adults’ social services.
Accountable to the people of Lancashire and South Cumbria and in charge of NHS funds, NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria ICB will ensure that the strategies developed by Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Partnership are implemented effectively.
Dear candidate,
I am delighted that you are considering applying for the role of Chief Executive at Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (LSC ICB).
We commission health and care services for 1.8 million residents in Lancashire and South Cumbria, with a budget of over £5 billion. Our population is geographically complex and diverse.
This is a challenging yet exciting opportunity to join our ICB. Despite the need to halve our costs, our focus on strategic, population health-oriented commissioning, as outlined in the Model ICB Blueprint, offers a significant opportunity to streamline our organization and realize our vision of a community-centric health and care system. We aim to reconfigure clinical service delivery across the system and collaborate with local authorities, social care, education, and the voluntary, community, faith, and social enterprise sectors to expand care in the home and community, leveraging digital technology. This approach aims to improve outcomes and reduce health inequalities.
The ICB, along with three providers within the Lancashire and South Cumbria system, has been escalated by NHSE into the Recovery Support Programme, with Financial Enforcement Undertakings applied, reflecting financial and governance challenges. We are actively working to address these issues and are making good progress.
The new Chief Executive will lead our organization out of escalation and help realize our system vision. We seek someone with a clear focus on delivery, strategic thinking, integrity, and values. The role requires someone who excels in partnership working and fostering a culture of public involvement.
You will provide inspirational leadership to our talented workforce, both within the ICB and across the system, promoting continuous improvement with the resident at the center of all we do.
This is a critical role during a period of transformation in our system. We encourage you to explore our organization and system and to contact our advisors at Alumni Global for a confidential discussion.
I look forward to your application.
