Job Description

Due to internal progression, we now have an exciting opportunity to join the Cell Engineering team as a Research Associate. You will need to hit the ground running and work within the department to assist in generating edited cell lines using CRISPR Cas9 technologies.

This is a rare opportunity for someone looking to participate in developing cutting-edge technological approaches and employ their skills and expertise to create the largest catalogue of physiologically relevant disease models with unprecedented efficiency, ease, and reproducibility. Roles and responsibilities:

  • Perform various steps of NGS library prep to run Illumina Sequencing platform
  • Help in performing in silico target and cell line screening and feasibility studies
  • Execute sample tracking, QC, and data interpretation
  • Perform troubleshooting and experimental work to expand and optimize the NGS team's capacity as required
  • Help establish and maintain high-quality standards during experimental processes and record keeping
  • Help maintain a safe and efficient working environment in the laboratory, ensure safety of colleagues & visitors, and comply with Health and Safety (H&S) policies
  • Ensure compliance with applicable abcam policies
  • Assist with general housekeeping duties (including routine maintenance tasks for lab equipment, purchasing and restocking of consumables, appropriate disposal of lab waste, etc.)

Qualifications

You will have a degree in molecular biology or an equivalent subject and at least a year's experience in an industry environment with PCR, RT-PCR, nucleic acid extraction, and subsequent QC. You should be able to prep and analyze a high volume of samples while maintaining accurate record keeping and database management.

You are comfortable presenting data, capable of taking on new challenges, and identifying new or improved working methods. You are a team player, able to prioritize and work to deadlines, with a proactive attitude and great attention to detail. Experience in molecular biology, specifically genomic DNA isolation, PCR, protein analysis, DNA sequencing, and automation processes, would be advantageous.
