Our client, an independent special school in Totnes, is seeking a committed Curriculum Lead to join their dynamic leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and implement a high-quality, individualised curriculum for pupils aged 11–19. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Teacher and SLT to ensure that teaching and learning is of the highest standard, and that pupils thrive both academically and personally.
The school offers small group and individualised learning and places strong emphasis on building trusting relationships. It was rated Good by Ofsted in November 2022 and provides a supportive, therapeutic environment where every pupil can flourish.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Teacher and SLT in leading staff to deliver effective, individualised education programmes
Ensure the school’s curriculum has clear intent, is implemented effectively, and delivers meaningful impact for all pupils
Maintain and improve the quality of education so it meets and exceeds Independent School Standards
Support safeguarding practices across the school as a Designated Deputy Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)
Work across school sites and provide outreach in South Devon
Ideal Candidate:
Experience in a curriculum leadership role
Qualified teacher with strong classroom practice
Experience working with children and young people with special educational needs
Excellent communication and team leadership skills
Ability to travel between sites and outreach locations (own vehicle required)
