BEAR Scotland manages and maintains over 2,500 km of Scotland's trunk road network within the South East. BEAR is responsible for over 750 bridges and structures, including the iconic Forth Road Bridge and Queensferry Crossing, as well as other major bridges such as the Kincardine Bridge and Clackmannanshire Bridge.

We have opportunities for Graduate Bridge Engineers in our project management and design teams across our South East Unit. The roles are based in our Queensferry, Bonnyrigg, and Burghmuir offices. Candidates should hold a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Previous work experience is not required but would be beneficial. BEAR offers competitive salaries and a graduate training scheme accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers.

Our Graduate Engineers will assist experienced teams in delivering multi-million-pound schemes during the feasibility, design, procurement, and construction of roads and bridge refurbishment and strengthening projects. This is an excellent opportunity for any Graduate Engineer to develop their design and Project Management experience.

Responsibilities And Activities Include (but Are Not Restricted To):
  • Assist with the Project Management and supervision of sub-contractors on sites.
  • Assist with the design of projects, including preparation of calculations, designs, drawings, and other documentation.
  • Deliver allocated projects on time and within budget.
  • Assist with inspections, surveys, and investigations on bridges and the network.
  • Assist with the management of construction health and safety.
  • Follow the requirements of the Graduate Training programme as appropriate.
Knowledge, Skills, And Experience:
  • University degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (First class or upper second MEng preferred).
  • A full, approved UK driving license.
