Job description

This position is a full-time role, typically requiring 40+ hours per week, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekdays, working remotely for Washington Connections Academy from your home office in Washington, Oregon, or Idaho. Certified Teachers will remotely manage instructional programs, using telephone, Internet, and curriculum tools to consult with learning coaches and students to ensure successful completion of their instructional programs.

The Advisory Teacher will be responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Homeroom Support Roles: Hosting a homeroom of students, acting as a role model and mentor, hosting weekly LiveLessons, supporting students and families through key school year cycle tasks, encouraging engagement, and advising on academics and graduation.
  2. Student Support Roles: Advising a caseload of students and families on academics, career planning, and graduation; assisting with course selection, transcript evaluations, and developing High School and Beyond Plans; supporting special programs; coordinating with school teams; and managing student records and incidents.
  3. Content Support Roles: Teaching and grading in courses like Freshman Success, Senior Success, College Prep, or Career Planning; hosting content-based LiveLessons and office hours.
  4. Community Roles: Coordinating social activities, virtual community building, participating in state testing, student recruiting, and marketing efforts.
  5. Behind-The-Scenes Roles: Participating in IEP and 504 teams, reviewing student progress, collaborating with staff, attending training, and fulfilling other school-wide responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • Washington teacher certification in any Secondary subject or K-8 Elementary Education.
  • Residency or imminent relocation to Washington, Oregon, or Idaho.
  • Strong technology skills with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Zoom, educational software, and data tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, culturally responsive and inclusive approach, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel for key school events, including overnight stays.
  • Use of personal electronic device and email for authentication.

Salary ranges from $40,000 to $55,000 based on experience and education.
