Job description

We are looking for an experienced part time Retail Sales Assistant to work on a permanent basis, to join our established and developing client in Banbury. Your primary role will be to provide excellent customer care for customers coming into the shop. The hours of work will be two days in the week and every Saturday.

As Retail Sales Advisor, you will be responsible for:

  1. Fully participating in all aspects of the store operation from front end counter sales to warehousing, stock management, compliance and cleaning.
  2. Working face to face with customers to help with enquiries and sales.
  3. Providing accurate and appropriate advice, guidance and technical details on product selection to ensure that our customers buy the best and relevant products to meet their needs.
  4. Processing cash and card payments and refunds in line with company procedures.
  5. Providing excellent after sales service by following up on orders, ensuring orders are fulfilled as expected, delivery targets met and customers informed of any delays in advance.
  6. Dealing with customer complaints positively and promptly.
  7. Assisting with in-store visual merchandising.
  8. Stocking the retail space with merchandise.
  9. Ensuring all displays are kept in a clean and attractive condition and products are labelled and priced correctly.
  10. Goods in and external deliveries.
  11. Participating in training and learning activities to ensure the continued development of skills, product awareness and knowledge, and to ensure safe working practices are operated.

Skills/experience required for the Retail Sales Advisor:

  1. Previous experience in a customer facing sales role.
  2. Excellent English, both spoken and written.
  3. Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication and listening skills.
  4. Genuine desire to deliver first-class customer service.
  5. Ability to learn and discuss our product range with a customer.
  6. IT literate and proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and Excel.
  7. Patient, forward thinking and proactive attitude.
  8. Diligence and attention to detail.
  9. Availability to work weekends and Bank Holidays on a rotational basis.

This role involves manual handling (lifting, moving and carrying boxed stock and furniture) and the use of ladders on a regular basis.
