We are a new B2B organization, part of a venture focused on creating engaging digital experiences. We are seeking a design engineer with a deep understanding of system thinking and advanced front-end development. You will be part of a diverse team, contributing to design systems and ensuring a balance of interaction design, accessibility, and visual UI design.
As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the business accelerator, you will be at the heart of new product development. We are looking for intellectually curious team members with a demonstrated passion for creating compelling B2B products and services for our customers. This role requires an extensive understanding of system thinking and advanced front-end development, and experience in building and contributing to design systems. A balanced understanding of interaction design, accessibility, and visual UI design is essential. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of designers, user researchers, product managers, and engineers to create products and services for our customers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the creation of new design system requirements and features, exploring improvements in collaboration with the team.
- Lead Design System Governance, facilitate peer code reviews and quality assurance checks to ensure system reliability and stability. Oversee contributions and prioritize deliverables.
- Contribute to and maintain the design system, including design tokens, variables, and Figma assets, ensuring alignment with visual standards.
- Collaborate closely with designers to integrate new tokens and maintain consistency across designs.
- Lead the documentation of the design system to create clear and accessible resources for developers, designers, and stakeholders.
- Work with design leadership to ensure the design system aligns with the overall design vision and strategy.
- Identify gaps and opportunities for improvement by working with other teams and stakeholders.
- Bridge the gap between design and engineering to leverage design systems for broader business objectives.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Formal training or certification in systems thinking and front-end development, with proficient advanced experience.
- Solid understanding of various design systems, with experience in building and contributing to them.
- Proven success in developing and delivering web products, with strong problem-solving skills.
- Expertise in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and fundamentals of web development, including API integration.
- Experience with modern web technologies such as React and TypeScript, with a strong understanding of coding standards, accessibility, and governance of design systems.
- Collaborative team player with experience working in cross-functional teams and driving successful outcomes.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, capable of explaining complex software architecture to non-engineers.
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, or equivalent professional experience.
Additional Skills:
- Experience with Figma variables and their impact on design efficiency.
- Use of data and customer insights to inform design decisions.
