What is the opportunity?

You will join the second line Privacy Team to support on monitoring, oversight and integration of the newly expanded Wealth Management - Europe (WME) division. If you are a self-starter who is an excellent communicator, detail-oriented and organised, and you are looking to develop your Privacy career, this is a great opportunity to join a prestigious global organisation at a transformative time for its WME business.

You will be responsible for supporting the business and our first line Privacy colleagues to develop and embed governance that ensures we effectively oversee, manage and mitigate Privacy Risks. In practice, we do this through our WME Record of Processing, DSAR procedures, Privacy Risk Assessments, issues management, monitoring, reporting and our training and awareness programme.

RBC operates a "3 lines of defence" model: As second line, you will have lots of opportunities to engage with the wider Global Privacy Office to help support Group Policy framework implementation and oversight.

This is an excellent chance to join us in a visible, cross-cutting role which will give you exposure to many parts of the business and the global Privacy Programme.

What will you do?

  • Work with WME Line 1 Risk Teams to ensure that Group Privacy Risk Framework and Policies are implemented and maintained across WME.
  • Operate oversight processes to ensure our Privacy Risk processes and controls are in place and effective.
  • Support development and implementation of the control framework, with Line 1 colleagues.
  • Provide oversight and advice on DSARs.
  • Provide advice on BAU data privacy matters, including marketing and privacy notice obligations. Working with stakeholders to review project proposals for Privacy by Design.
  • Raise, oversee and provide advice on privacy risks and issues using RBC systems
  • Carry out third party engagement reviews and engage with colleagues in other SME specialisms where needed to resolve issues or risks.
  • Represent Privacy on change governance forums
  • Review training and guidance to ensure in line with Group Policy

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • Experience within the financial services industry (or other highly regulated sector) and good business acumen
  • Understanding of GDPR, Privacy Risk Management and data governance
  • Self-starter, organised, cooperative, with excellent attention to detail and collaborative working style
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts in a concise and understandable way to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word)

Nice-to-have
  • Working knowledge of databases, queries and reports
  • Awareness / understanding of a global Privacy Program framework
  • Privacy software skills experience
  • Experience of participating in projects with multiple stakeholders, and navigating large complex organisations
  • Stakeholder management / facilitation of meetings and strong administrative skills and experience
