A little more about your role

As a Senior/Principal Engineer, you will drive the delivery of civil and bridge engineering projects, using your knowledge and skills to ensure quality, timeliness, and budget adherence. You will also mentor and support junior team members.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Bridge design, both in the UK and overseas;
  2. Bridge management;
  3. Bridge strengthening, repair, inspections, and assessments;
  4. Support to other teams in general civil and structural engineering;
  5. Feasibility studies and options appraisals;
  6. Preparation of documents, reports, health and safety risk assessments, scheme designs and drawings, feasibility studies, and cost estimates;
  7. Preparation of fee estimates;
  8. Supervision of junior team members and CAD technicians.

Our team is based in WSP's vibrant city centre offices, with access to public transport and amenities. We work on a variety of projects in the rail and highways sectors for clients such as HS2, Network Rail, National Highways, Local Authorities, D&B Contractors, and private clients. What we will be looking for you to demonstrate

You should be a Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with experience including:

  • Practical knowledge of bridge design, maintenance, and assessment from site and office work;
  • Project management experience in bridge projects;
  • Proven expertise in design, maintenance, and supervision of bridge and civil structures, including innovation in design and management;
  • Knowledge of DMRB and MCDHW standards related to structural schemes;
  • Understanding of Eurocodes and their application to bridge design;
  • Experience with steel, reinforced, and prestressed concrete bridge structures;
  • Experience with analysis software such as LUSAS, Superstress, and SAM;
  • Strong communication, client handling, and interpersonal skills, with adaptability and a proactive attitude towards team development.
