Job description

Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment? Are you a reliable and dedicated individual with experience in housekeeping and general maintenance? Are you looking for a new opportunity in the quarrying industry?

We have a Cleaning Operative role available at Holcim Aggregates in Glensanda. These roles are ideal for individuals with experience in laboring and housekeeping, particularly those comfortable working with hand shovels and fire.

Role: Cleaning Operative
Location: Holcim Aggregates, Glensanda, Glensanda Quarry, Morvern, Oban PA34 5QB
Pay Rate: £13.74ph
Contract Length: 6 months initially, with the possibility of extension
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (includes 1-hour paid break). Accommodation provided from Monday to Friday, with ferry pickup on Monday and drop-off on Friday after shift, provided by Holcim Aggregate Glensanda Quarry.
Start: ASAP

Responsibilities:

1. Using shovels to remove debris, dust, and dirt from work areas, walkways, and equipment.
2. Operating hoses for washing down quarry machinery, vehicles, and equipment.
3. Ensuring the quarry site remains tidy and safe by regularly clearing areas of waste or materials.
4. Adhering to safety procedures, including wearing PPE and reporting hazards.
5. Assisting in the efficient operation of the quarry by maintaining clean and clutter-free working environments.

Essential Skills:

1. Previous experience in a Housekeeping or Labourer role.
2. Experience using hand shovels and fire.
3. Full UK Driving Licence.
4. Locals preferable.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

1. Experience in Quarry/Construction Sites: prior experience in a quarry or similar industrial setting is advantageous.
2. Mobile Plant Operation: experience operating small mobile plant equipment such as mini excavators, loaders, or skid-steer machines.
3. Physical Fitness: ability to lift, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
4. Knowledge of Health & Safety: familiarity with safety regulations and practices in a quarry environment, including PPE use and hazard recognition.
5. Adaptability: ability to switch between cleaning tasks and equipment operation based on site needs.
