Job summary

Job description

Product Development Scientist, Stallingborough

This role at Tronox involves leading product development efforts in the coatings and plastics segment, including laboratory and pilot plant work, prototype development, and technical problem solving.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a safe working environment and adhere to safety and environmental protocols.
  • Maintain laboratory and pilot plant equipment according to safety standards.
  • Research intellectual property during project development.
  • Mentor junior scientists and produce prototypes.
  • Address technical challenges in coatings & plastics.
  • Plan and execute laboratory and pilot work independently, with guidance.
  • Conduct in-process testing and analyze data, presenting findings clearly.
  • Contribute to process improvements and safety initiatives.
  • Participate in travel for plant trials within the UK and abroad.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Honours degree in Chemistry or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Experience in product development within inorganic chemistry, especially silica or alumina.
  • Knowledge of particle physics, coatings industry, and chemical manufacturing.
  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Proficiency in Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with leadership skills.
  • Experience with intellectual property documentation and patent processes.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
