Job description

Lead Paint Tester

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Lead Paint Tester to join our growing team. The Lead Paint Tester will be responsible for conducting on-site inspections of residential and commercial properties to identify lead-based paint hazards. The ideal candidate will have experience using XRF analyzers, be comfortable working independently in the field, and maintain a high standard of professionalism and accuracy in reporting.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct lead-based paint inspections and risk assessments in accordance with EPA, HUD, and NYC HPD standards.
  2. Use XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analyzers and other equipment to detect the presence of lead-based paint.
  3. Document inspection findings with accuracy, including photographs, data logs, and field notes.
  4. Prepare clear and thorough reports for clients and regulatory agencies.
  5. Communicate effectively with property owners, tenants, and property managers.
  6. Follow safety procedures and wear proper PPE during all site visits.
  7. Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment.
  8. Keep up-to-date with changes in regulations and testing procedures.
Qualifications:
  • EPA-certified Lead Inspector (Required).
  • Experience with XRF testing equipment (Preferred).
  • Familiarity with NYC Local Law 31 and HPD protocols (Preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites throughout NYC.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule.
