Join a leading local authority as a Technical Lead in Community Safety. This role focuses on preventing and resolving community safety issues, including anti-social behaviour and modern slavery. You'll work closely with partners to implement effective strategies and engage with diverse communities. Ideal candidates will have a passion for community safety, strong knowledge of relevant legislation, and experience in partnership working.
Plymouth City Council has an exciting opportunity to join its Community Connections team as a Technical Lead in Community Safety.
Working within the Community Safety team, this role will support the operational delivery of the team, and work at a strategic level with partners, to support the prevention and resolution of community safety issues within the city. Key focus areas for this role include, but are not limited to, anti-social behaviour, modern slavery, Prevent, hate crime and community cohesion.
The post holder will work closely with colleagues and partner agencies to:
·Provide advice and support around the resolution of anti-social behaviour cases, with a particular focus on early intervention and working creatively in a trauma-informed way to address underlying causes.
·Lead on the resolution of complex cases of anti-social behaviour across the city.
·Create, review, and update community safety policies and processes to ensure compliance with the Local Authority’s statutory responsibilities, embed changes in legislation, and ensure best practice within the team.
·Co-ordinate and chair Anti-Social Behaviour Case Reviews.
·Lead on the organisation of action weeks, including ASB Awareness Week, and support the team with community engagement, e.g. events and residents’ meetings.
·Build relationships with diverse communities and key stakeholders to understand areas of community tension and work proactively to address these.
·Seek opportunities to secure funding to make communities safer and lead on the delivery of funding initiatives.
·Provide training to colleagues and partners around ASB tools, powers, and initiatives.
·Ensure senior managers and elected members are kept updated through verbal and written briefings and performance reports.
·Support the community safety partnership to address priority community safety issues within the city.
The ideal candidate will:
·Have a passion for community safety and making a difference.
·Have in-depth knowledge of legislation, policy and government initiatives relating to community safety and anti-social behaviour.
·Have experience, or understanding of, working within the community safety sector, including with the resolution of anti-social behaviour.
·Have a proven track record of working in partnerships.
·Be self-motivated and able to work flexibly as you will be required to work from home and from various locations across the city.
The successful candidate will be required to pass level 2 police vetting checks.
This role is not suitable for job share due to the needs to the service.
