A leading company is seeking a Marine Section Engineer to support the Marine and Tunnels engineering team at Sizewell C. The role involves managing marine works, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, and utilizing digital tools for project support. Candidates should have strong communication skills and relevant engineering qualifications. Join us to contribute to significant infrastructure projects in the UK.
About the role
SZC is owned by two shareholders, Electricité de France (EDF) and His Majesty's Government (HMG). The shareholders hold their investment through NNB Holdings Company (SZC) Limited. The shareholdings will change over time.
The shareholders will fund SZC until Financial Close through equity, following the approved schedule and budget. SZC's business involves designing, financing, constructing, commissioning, operating, maintaining, and eventually decommissioning the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk. The current development phase aims to finalize the Capital Raise Plan, complete an equity and debt raise, secure core supply chain contracts, and obtain necessary regulatory permits and licenses.
Previously, SZC operated as part of EDF's Nuclear Development business unit. It is now establishing itself as an independent organization capable of delivering a new nuclear power plant, from investment and funding to construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.
The project’s technical and commercial business case is based on replicating the Hinkley Point C model. EDF will be a key supplier of nuclear capability for SZC from its UK footprint. Key stakeholders include HMG, relevant government departments, EDF, financial investors, regulators, alliance partners, and local communities.
The Marine Section Engineer will support the Marine and Tunnels engineering team in developing construction methods, design inputs for temporary and permanent works, and establishing onshore support hubs for offshore installation of reinforced concrete structures in the North Sea.
The role involves flexible working, possibly including relocation or travel. It requires strong communication skills, a team-oriented approach, and the ability to work independently and influence decisions.
