South Lanarkshire Council is seeking a part-time Facilities Assistant (Caretaker) to provide caretaking services in East Kilbride and surrounding areas. The role requires effective communication skills, the ability to work independently, and compliance with Health & Safety standards. Benefits include enrolment in the local government pension scheme and up to 33 days of annual leave.
Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday 8:00am - 4:30pm, Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm. Saturday and Sunday rota: 1 in 8 weekends, Saturday and Sunday 8:00am - 1:00pm. Also, 1 in 25-week standby rota covering all SLC Multis after-hours emergency call outs. Extra payment for standby and overtime for call outs. This is a part-time 20-hour per week job share with another colleague, working a 5 on 5 off pattern. Work patterns and rotas will be explained at interview.
Housing & Technical Resources seek to recruit a Facilities Assistant (Caretaker) to join our team providing services in East Kilbride, Clyde Tower, and other areas throughout South Lanarkshire Council where required.
You will be responsible for providing a day-to-day caretaking service within a multi-storey block of flats, ensuring compliance with standards. You should be able to work a shift pattern that includes weekends and participate in an out-of-hours standby rota.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently. You should be a committed team player and have previous experience in providing customer-oriented services.
An awareness of Health & Safety legislation is essential.
