Location: Port Edgar, Edinburgh

Contract: Full-time, 11-week fixed-term contract, starting no later than 15 June 2025

Salary: £22,391 per annum, pro rata

The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) is a vibrant charity delivering life-changing nautical adventures for young people through the Sea Cadets, providing personal and professional development for seafarers. We aim to improve the lives of thousands of young people and seafarers, supporting our volunteers who are vital to our success.

We are seeking an OTW Project Assistant to support the delivery of the On The Water project at our Edinburgh boating station. The project offers young people aged 9-14, outside Sea Cadets, the chance to experience water activities, learn new skills, and build confidence. This rewarding role requires someone self-motivated, inspiring, organized, creative, positive, IT competent, and enthusiastic about working with people.

Project activities at Port Edgar Boat Station will take place from 30th July to 1st August 2025, during which the Project Assistant will manage registration, group changeovers, track targets, encourage survey completion, and fill booking gaps. Before the event, the role involves supporting bookings and community outreach. Afterward, the focus shifts to evaluation, data collection, and helping participants join local Sea Cadet units. The role also supports delivery at other sites in London and Birmingham, which may involve virtual support or travel with expenses paid.

Key Responsibilities
  • Register and welcome participants for the On The Water project
  • Collect and upload daily statistics on project progress

  • Engage with participants and their parents/carers about Sea Cadets opportunities
  • Ensure safety and wellbeing of participants alongside staff
  • Ensure survey completion and gather feedback
  • Attend meetings as required
