Job description

Are you a software engineer with a background in 6G standards research that is looking for an exciting new role in the new year?

At USA Tech Recruitment we are currently working alongside a highly innovative team that are listed on the NASDAQ and S&P SmallCap 600, helping them to bring on board a principal 6G standards research engineer.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute 6G standards-driven research, focusing on technologies relevant to 3GPP RAN, SA, and/or CT in collaboration with the Wireless Standards team.
  • Contribute to the company’s 6G research and innovation initiatives, including intellectual property creation, development of standard contributions, and publication of industry-leading research.
  • Support and influence global standardization bodies and industry forums, such as ETSI, ITU, and 3GPP, to shape key decisions on 6G standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate technological trends to align research efforts with emerging industry requirements.
  • Lead interdisciplinary research initiatives, ensuring technical excellence across various projects.
  • Build and enhance strategic partnerships with industry, academic institutions, and government organizations.
  • Coordinate contributions to multiple organizations, ensuring alignment with global technology standards.
  • Represent the company’s vision through keynote presentations, participation in prominent panels, and leadership in webinars.
  • Establish thought leadership in the 6G domain by authoring white papers, blogs, and research publications.
  • Oversee the integration of technical solutions across projects, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals.
  • Address complex challenges in 6G research through advanced technical expertise and innovative problem-solving.
  • Promote continuous improvement in research practices, tools, and processes to sustain a competitive advantage.
Qualifications:
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field; a PhD is preferred.
  • Over 10 years of engineering experience, with substantial involvement in managing large-scale, cross-disciplinary research projects.
  • Proven leadership in industry forums, with a demonstrated ability to shape standards and guide technology advancements related to 3GPP radio and systems.
  • Recognized expertise across multiple technical areas, with a focus on 3GPP-based telecommunications and wireless networks.
  • Strong record of innovation, including contributions to research papers or patents in the field of telecommunications.
  • Exceptional English language proficiency and communication skills, with experience representing organizations in prominent, high-visibility contexts.
  • Familiarity with European and international R&I wireless ecosystems, such as ETSI, ITU-R IMT systems, and HEU/H2020, is a plus.
  • Project management experience is highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with high levels of autonomy and self-direction.
  • Strong skills in articulating vision, problem-solving, and executing strategies to achieve objectives.
