Test Development Engineer

Salary: £48k - £52k

Job Summary:

We are on the lookout for enthusiastic and passionate engineers who want to grow with our organisation. As our facilities expand and new products are introduced, so must our engineering team grow and develop.

This new and exciting position exists due to growth in the high-performance systems for both its commercial and government customers.

As a Test Development Engineer, you will engage with all aspects of automated production test development, from SW module coding and test sequencing to physical jig design and fabrication.

With a focus on the delivery of new test capability to the manufacturing environment, you will work closely with our engineering team during product development to understand and influence design decisions and ensure a smooth transition into the manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and delivery of automated manufacturing test facilities for new product developments
  • Enhancement of existing manufacturing facilities to optimise effectiveness of test process flow
  • Production and maintenance of test fixtures and test equipment
  • Generation of controlled documentation for test procedures, configurations, and code
  • Conducting statistical evaluation and trend analysis of test results to guide process improvement
  • Advising product development engineers on design for testability features of new products
  • Attending and influencing new product design reviews
  • Developing and introducing new testing methodologies for as new product families come online
  • Supporting system acceptance testing prior to delivery of larger communication systems

The Person:

  • Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience of testing electronics/RF/Fibre sub-systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Skills in test code development and sequencing with scripting tools e.g. LabVIEW, Teststand
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Desirable:

  • Experience developing automated test rigs for RF circuits and optical telecommunications systems
  • Understanding of software and firmware version control and release management
  • Experience with engineering quality management processes
