About Us

GCHQ is an intelligence, cyber, and security agency dedicated to keeping the UK safe through cutting-edge technology, partnerships, and analysis to disrupt threats. We work alongside MI5 and MI6, providing a supportive, inclusive environment emphasizing teamwork.

The Role

As a Senior Cyber Security Analyst, you will be vital in defending our organization against cyber threats such as malware, insider activity, DDoS attacks, and phishing. Your responsibilities include investigating alerts, analyzing logs and network traffic, monitoring security systems, developing detection content, utilizing threat intelligence, and responding to breaches.

You will lead efforts to improve operational processes, mentor junior analysts, and support digital forensics and incident response activities. Staying current with cybersecurity tools and techniques and reviewing past alerts to prioritize incidents will also be part of your role.

About You

You should have a background in cyber security analysis, with experience in host intrusion detection and a good understanding of Windows and Linux OS. A minimum of 6 months experience as a Cyber Security or SOC Analyst is required. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, are essential.

We offer internal and external training to enhance your skills, with opportunities to pursue industry-recognized qualifications like SANS and CISSP. You will have the chance to work across various cybersecurity specialisms and attend conferences, with infrequent travel opportunities.

Rewards and Benefits

Starting salary of £44,044 plus benefits including 25-30 days annual leave, public holidays, performance recognition, interest-free season ticket loan, pension scheme, cycle to work scheme, on-site facilities, and parental leave.
