Job description

Job Title: SEND Teacher

Location: North Yorkshire

Immediate start - ongoing until at least July

Leader Education are recruiting a Teacher to work within a SEND school in Yorkshire.

This school provides education and care for pupils aged 3 to 16 years who have a range of specific learning difficulties; therefore, knowledge of EHCP's is vital.

This role involves teaching 10 Key Stage 2 pupils who are working at Reception to Year 1 levels, with a small number reaching Year 2 levels. One pupil has severe SEMH difficulties and can display physical behaviours; however, permanent staff are fully trained to manage this effectively.

You will be supported by two Teaching Assistants within the classroom.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30 until 16:30 and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will:

  1. Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update system or a willingness to obtain one
  2. Possess Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  3. Have relevant experience - with SEND or vulnerable individuals
  4. Plan and deliver lessons using a range of teaching methods, resources and technology
  5. Establish a supportive and consistent relationship with pupils, promoting a positive learning experience
  6. Develop a knowledge and understanding of the academic, emotional, and behavioural needs of the child and respond to these effectively
  7. Be flexible and resilient
