About the Role:
Liverpool City Council is seeking a committed and detail-oriented Court of Protection Officer to manage the property and financial affairs of vulnerable adults where the Council is appointed as Deputy by the Court of Protection.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload relating to clients under the Court of Protection.
Act in accordance with Court Orders and the Mental Capacity Act (2005).
Liaise with social workers, government departments, financial institutions, and other professionals.
Secure and manage clients' assets, bank accounts, investments, and property.
Attend meetings, conduct property searches, and arrange appropriate safeguarding of personal effects.
Maintain accurate records using Liquid Logic, AMS and Casper systems.
Monitor and manage regular financial transactions on behalf of clients.
Ensure compliance with Local Authority Deputy Standards set by the Office of the Public Guardian.
Five GCSEs or equivalent (including NVQ Level 3 in Administration).
Strong knowledge of the Court of Protection and Mental Capacity Act.
Experience in managing finances and property, including investments and estate matters.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Well-developed IT and organisational abilities.
Capacity to deal professionally with distressed or vulnerable individuals.
Familiarity with ECDL, public sector IT and finance systems.
Experience working in a local authority or public sector environment.
Ability to consult with staff, families and external providers with diplomacy.
