Key Purpose of the Role:

Servicing fire extinguishers, fire alarms, fault finding, replacing, and repairing fire alarm systems including emergency lighting in accordance with current standards. Ability to think on your feet, passionate about resolving problems, confident in tackling any situation on-site, with support from the owner/engineer.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and fault find on Fire Detection, Alarm, and Emergency Lighting systems. Knowledge of CCTV and Intruder systems is an advantage.
  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance of all fire systems.
  • Repair, commission, and install both conventional and analogue addressable fire alarm systems to a high standard of workmanship.
  • Understand regulatory standards (BS5839-1, BS5266-1), fair trading, and competition rules related to the work, and recognize when specialist support is needed.
  • Support company policies and best practices regarding security and confidentiality, especially concerning sensitive customer information.
  • Report health and safety, security events, or potential risks to the owner.
  • Understand client needs and fulfill all job requirements.

Essential Requirements:

  • Excellent first-time resolution and risk management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven experience in the fire industry.
  • Experience in service and repair work.
  • Experience with conventional and addressable fire systems across various manufacturers.
  • Good installation practices.
  • Full understanding of BS5306 fire extinguishers.
  • Understanding of Emergency Lighting systems per BS5266-1.
  • Full driving license.
  • Competency as per industry standards (RRO-2005).

Desirable Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Fire Alarm systems.
  • Knowledge of Fire extinguishers.
  • Electrical or electronic systems background.
  • Understanding of emergency lighting.
  • Good overall fire product knowledge.

Work Location: On the road

  • Servicing fire extinguishers, fire alarms, fault finding, replacing, and repairing fire alarm systems including emergency lighting in accordance with current standards. Ability to think on your feet, resolve problems, and tackle any situation on-site with support from the owner/engineer. Training will be provided. We are looking for a fire protection engineer; if you possess some key skills in fire protection, we can train you further.
