Trainee Earthing Engineer

Salary: £26,208 per annum + £40/night for working away

Location: Based out of Nottingham with UK wide travel (vehicle provided)

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a successful security company specializing in Security / Access Control Systems for some of the UK's largest Utility companies. We are looking for an ambitious Trainee Earthing Engineer to help develop the business during an exciting phase of growth.

This is a field-based, UK-wide role. It is essential that you are willing to travel and work away from home, and hold a full, clean UK driver’s license.

Beneficial Competencies: CSCS card, Pasma, IPAF

Minimum Qualifications: GCSE or ‘O' Level in English Language, Mathematics, and a Science Subject

Role & Responsibilities

1. Installation and testing of Earthing systems to LV/HV/GIS substations, power generating stations, CNI, waste-to-power plants, wind farms, Solar parks, telecommunications, Data Centres, water industry, and MOD infrastructures.
2. Installation of Lightning protection systems for various building types (Concrete, rebar, steel frame, traditional build).
3. Liaising with clients on-site and resolving design issues with architects and project managers.
4. Ensuring all work within scope is carried out safely, diligently, professionally, and on time.
5. Working with equipment such as Generators, Current Transformers, Voltage Transformers, Super Grid Transformers, Shunt Reactors.
6. Conducting tests like Continuity, Slope, Electrode, Resistivity, and Fall of Potential Testing.
7. Supporting other business areas such as PowerFence and Geoquip Technologies.
8. Using Earthing test meters and Micro Ohm Meters.
9. Performing Silfos Oxy/Propane Brazing and Exothermic Welding.
10. Completing detailed engineering reports and recording site data.
11. Ordering components and equipment as needed.
12. Managing van stock, replenishment, and stocktaking.
13. Applying problem-solving skills and providing diligent recommendations.
14. Demonstrating completed systems or work to clients and end-users.
15. Providing training to other engineers and staff as required.
16. Arranging PAT, CAT, and meter calibrations for company equipment.
17. Asset tagging and registration of information.
