Job Description

As a member of our multi-skilled and mobile site team, you will be responsible for the on-site installation, testing, and sign-off of our projects, as well as overseeing all aspects of assigned projects from commencement to completion. You will be enthusiastic, keen to solve problems, and will deliver and supervise our projects in a manner that exceeds our customers’ expectations, ensuring compliance with the Company’s management systems, including occupational health and safety (OH&S), environmental, and quality policies.

The day-to-day activities involve travelling to client sites to carry out and supervise electrical installation and testing work, including associated paperwork. You will be part of the wider site team managed by an Operations Manager and will be delegated responsibilities for site supervision by the site manager.

Your role

The Core Responsibilities and Requirements of this position include:

  1. Carry out electrical installation and refurbishment works on water company sites according to project requirements and schedules.
  2. Work on client sites regionally, with potential overnight stays and possible paid overtime based on project needs.
  3. Work outdoors on sites conveying sewage and drinking water, adhering to hygiene standards.
  4. Manage multiple projects simultaneously if required.
  5. Specify job requirements, including parts, equipment, and materials needed.
  6. Work both on client sites and in the company workshop as needed.
  7. Supervise electrical installations and refurbishment projects.
  8. Inspect and test electrical systems, troubleshoot issues, and verify installations.
  9. Complete paperwork accurately and promptly to demonstrate successful installation and testing.
  10. Utilize design drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer manuals to complete projects.
  11. Survey electrical systems and plans.
  12. Supervise and manage installation teams, ensuring health and safety compliance on-site.
  13. Ensure compliance with BS7671 standards and client-specific standards.
  14. Communicate openly, challenge when necessary, and be accountable to yourself and colleagues.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of dedicated experience in electrical installation and supervision, preferably within the UK water sector. Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret electrical drawings and instructions.

  • At least 5 years’ experience post-qualification in electrical installation, testing, and supervision, preferably in the UK water sector.
  • Fully qualified electrical fitter (NVQ level 3 or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition wiring regulations (preferable).
  • 2391 Test and Inspection qualification (preferable).
  • Control and automation experience (advantageous).
  • Ability to work well in a team and supervise others, providing clear instructions.
  • Excellent health and safety knowledge and application.
  • Organized with the ability to multitask.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and flexible approach to work.
  • Professional personal presentation.
  • Valid full driving license.
  • SSSTS trained.
