Job Title: Lecturer in Electrical Installation

Salary: £30,000 - £39,495 per annum

Starting Salary: Lecturer Scale Point 3 - £34,088 per annum (plus £3,067 Threshold and £1,596 Deane Payment if applicable)

Directorate: Curriculum and Information Services

School: School of Built Environment

Location: Campus to be confirmed. Appointee must be available to work at any College site as required.

Hours of Work: 1 FTE, 36 hours per week, annual hours: 1440 (up to 828 hours for student contact time, remainder for associated duties). Flexibility including evening work required.

Job Purpose

To become a member of the teaching team in current courses of study and assist with future developments.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Plan, deliver, and assess a range of programmes from Level 1 to Level 5.
  2. Fulfil the role of class tutor with administrative and pastoral responsibilities.
  3. Develop ILT resources appropriate for teaching and learning and promote the use of library/resource centres.
  4. Review and evaluate quality of provision per IQ: RS and awarding body requirements.
  5. Participate in staff training and development activities to enhance knowledge, skills, and professional competence.
  6. Contribute to marketing, recruitment, induction, and other events.
  7. Coordinate programmes of study.
  8. Participate in subject and school team meetings.
  9. Organise educational visits and work-based learning, including residential events.
  10. Contribute to development of new courses to meet workforce and stakeholder needs.
  11. Complete administrative tasks associated with the role.
  12. Participate in activities to secure funding and liaise with employers, Sector Skills Council, and Awarding Bodies.
  13. Mentor students for competitions.
  14. Attend or chair meetings as required.
  15. Undertake teaching and non-teaching duties across College campuses as directed.

Selection Criteria
Essential
  • GCSE English (A-C) / Essential Skills Level 2+ in Communication
  • GCSE Maths (A-C) / Essential Skills Level 2+ in Numeracy or equivalent
  • Full NVQ Level 3 or above in Electrical Installation or equivalent
  • Level 5 qualification in relevant area or willingness to obtain within two years
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Electrical Installations
  • Qualified as an approved Assessor with an A1 award or willingness to obtain
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Effective administrative, planning, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Internal Verifier qualification or willingness to obtain
