Assistant Director – Placement and Family Support

Employment Type: Full Time

Salary: £40,539.50 per annum

Childhood First enables children and young people to recover from early life abuse and relational trauma, to enjoy life and to achieve their potential. We do this through the provision of specialised therapeutic residential care and treatment, together with family and network support. We are also a UKCP training and organisational member accredited with Middlesex University, providing in-house clinical training to its clinical staff.

Gables House is a specialist residential children’s home providing a programme of care, treatment, and education for up to 8 children aged between 11 to 16 years.

What you’ll bring to the role:
  • The ability to provide effective leadership of a team within a social care/work therapeutic environment, including managing significant and complex risk profiles of children and young people.
  • Excellent persuading, communication, and interpersonal skills to gain commitment, confidence, and compliance with all key stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, as well as children’s care standards and regulations.
  • A sense of personal resilience and psychological awareness, with the ability to form open and constructive relationships, including a willingness to consider self in relationships with others in terms of impact on the work.
Key Tasks:
  • Coordinate children and families contact arrangements.
  • Lead multidisciplinary assessments ensuring clinical pathway plans are in place for all children.
  • Ensure all children have effective therapeutic placement, treatment programmes, education, contracts, and care plans, delivered to the agreed standards.
  • Ensure children’s transition processes and plans are based on robust clinical assessments, with necessary interventions in place.
