Job summary
Cancer Services for children and young persons in the East Midlands are provided by an integrated cancer service which ensures equitable access to highly specialised care and expertise. This is a hub and spoke model with a central Principal Treatment Centre (PTC) providing complex treatments and Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Units (POSCUs) across the region providing local supportive care and minor treatments.
The Principal Treatment Centre for the East Midlands Region is run jointly as a collaborative partnership between University Hospitals Leicester (UHL) and Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH).
This post is for a Regional Lead Nurse to lead collaborative services across the East Midlands.
The Lead Nurse is accountable for the efficient and effective management of designated service areas, guaranteeing provision of high quality evidence based nursing practice. The Lead Nurse is part of a team implementing the agreed service for the East Midlands Children and Young People's Integrated Cancer Service (EMCYPICS) and ensuring this meets peer review standards.
As the Lead Nurse you will have a key role in the development and co-ordination of cancer services in the East Midlands and will lead the nursing contribution in the strategic development of these services.

Main duties of the jobTo provide strong clinical leadership skills, energising, inspiring and empowering all clinical staff in pursuit of a shared vision to ensure the effective management of all services within the area of responsibility. You will also provide focussed and professional leadership for nurses delivering care to children with cancer, and their families, promoting child and family centred care in the East Midlands.To work in collaboration with the Clinical Service Directors, EMCYPCS, Clinical Lead, Nottingham, Head of Nursing, Leicester and all nursing staff to promote a strong culture within nursing.
