Job summary

GAP Group in the United Kingdom is offering an Apprenticeship to become a Plant Mechanic. This 3-year programme lets you earn while you learn, with hands-on experience in a busy workshop and structured training leading to a nationally recognised qualification.

The role is Monday to Friday 8-5, with age-based starter salaries (£16,224 under 18; £17,860 over 18). After Year 1 you progress to the National Minimum Wage for your age group.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 and above or 4 National 4s
• Interest in plant machinery and engineering
• A high level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication skills and a willingness to learn

Responsibilities

• Learning how to service, maintain and repair a wide range of plant machinery and equipment
• Replacing components, checking systems, and calibrating instruments
• Developing core engineering skills alongside exposure to modern technology, including electro hydraulics and computerised control systems
• Working alongside experienced fitters to gain hands on, real world experience in a busy workshop environment
