Job summary

A recruitment agency for social work is seeking an experienced Early Years Transformation Lead for a 6-month contract (possible extension to 12 months) in Southeast England. This hybrid role involves leading improvements across Early Years services based on the DfE Best Start in Life strategy. Candidates should have significant Early Years sector experience, a leadership background, and possess strong communication skills. The position requires an onsite presence three days a week and offers a competitive rate of £400 to £450 per day.

Early Years Transformation Lead

Rate: £400 to £450 PD
Location: Southeast England, Hybrid (3 days onsite)

Our local authority client is looking for an experienced Early Years Transformation Lead to drive improvements across Early Years services in line with the DfE Best Start in Life strategy. This role offers the chance to deliver meaningful, system-level impact for children and families.

The Role

You will lead and co-ordinate the response to recent peer review recommendations, working with Early Years providers, partners, and services to strengthen quality, inclusion, and overall delivery. This is a strategic role requiring strong relationship‑building, insight, and leadership.

What We're Looking For
  • Significant experience in the Early Years sector, ideally with leadership background.
  • Strong understanding of Local Authority Early Years services and statutory responsibilities.
  • Ability to drive strategic change, identify best practice, and gather provider insight.
  • Commitment to inclusion, multi‑agency working, and improving outcomes for children.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of SEND in Early Years.
  • Experience in quality improvement and supporting providers.
  • Familiarity with DfE policy and national Early Years initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Must
  • Be able to commit to 3 days a week onsite presence.
  • Have a vehicle to travel with business insurance.
