Job summary

Academics has partnered with a large primary school in Waltham Forest, London to recruit an Early Years Teaching Assistant for a permanent, full-time position starting October or November 2026. Salary will be 26,000-36,000 pro rota, with term-time only hours 8:30am-3:45pm.

You will work across EYFS classes, supporting teachers and planning activities for small groups, helping pupils with reading, writing, phonics and numeracy. Training opportunities available.

Qualifications

• This role requires familiarity with the EYFS curriculum.
• Experience supporting reading, writing, phonics and numeracy in EYFS.
• Experience in a primary school setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support students across EYFS/early years classes and assist class teachers.
• Plan activities for small groups and aid children with reading, writing, phonics and numeracy.
• Contribute to a bespoke teacher training programme and ongoing education opportunities.

This Primary school is located within the heart of Waltham Forest, London with fantastic transport links. There is also a large carpark for those who drive.

The ideal candidate for this Early Years Teaching Assistant/ EYFS TA role will ideally have experience working within a primary school or have knowledge of the EYFS curriculum.

You will be required to work across the EYFS/ Early Years classes offering support to the class teachers. You will also be required to plan activities for small groups with aid children with their reading, writing, phonics and numeracy.

The ideal candidate will ideally holds a CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or hold a relevant degree or have over 1 years' experience in EYFS/ Early Years.

This school offers fantastic training opportunities as well as offering a bespoke teacher training programme and this is a fantastic opportunity for those wanting to gain experience before embarking on your teacher training.

You must be eligible to work in the UK and have some experience working with children to be shortlisted for this role.
