I am working with an excellent Prep school situated on a magnificent 120-acre site in Bath. The school offers both boarding and a day community. They offer a broad, holistic approach to education, in which pupils are encouraged to develop self-assurance and high levels of personal motivation. The School was rated as excellent in every category in its latest Independent School Inspectorate (ISI) inspection.

You would be joining the team as an Early Years Teaching Assistant, helping children to develop their education from the very beginning. You will play a vital role in supporting the teacher by helping to set up and maintain learning areas, deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and manage the behaviour and engagement of children. Your role will also include working with children in smaller groups who may need extra support, fostering positive relationships and providing reassurance to young children.

Responsibilities:

  • Adapting lesson materials, making them accessible to the pupil.
  • Providing one to one support during class.
  • Reinforcing learning objectives set by the teacher.
  • Assisting with literacy and numerical tasks breaking them down into more manageable steps.
  • Understanding the individual needs of the pupil to best support them in class.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with the pupil, parents and colleagues effectively.
  • Patience, empathy and resilience to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Relevant qualifications and training in education.
  • An understanding of relevant safe guarding and child protection procedures.
