Your New School: We are seeking an Early Years supply teacher to join our network of Supply Teachers in the Solihull area. To excel in this role, it’s essential to prioritise the children’s learning and overall wellbeing in everything you do. By partnering with Hays Education, a leading recruitment agency, you’ll benefit from dedicated consultants whose top priority is finding a role that is perfectly tailored to your needs. Hays Education offers a variety of opportunities, ranging from day-to-day positions to long-term and permanent roles.

Role Overview: As an Early Years Supply Teacher, your key responsibilities will include delivering tailored lesson plans and activities while ensuring that children remain safe and fully engaged in their learning. When the regular teacher is absent, you will be responsible for teaching and managing the classroom. In temporary or day-to-day roles, you will follow the lesson plans provided by the regular teacher. However, in longer-term or permanent roles, you will be required to devise and create your own lesson plans, with pay adjusted to scale accordingly. You will also be responsible for addressing challenges as they arise, including safeguarding concerns. These concerns should be reported to the designated teacher or the on-duty Safeguarding Lead (DSL). This role offers excellent flexibility, making it ideal for balancing work and home life. Not only does it provide a great work-life balance, but it also offers the opportunity to positively impact children’s growth, learning, and overall development, all while enjoying the benefits of supply teaching.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Covering sickness, paternity, and maternity leave
  • Managing classroom dynamics
  • Delivering engaging lessons
  • Maintaining continuity in children's learning
  • Marking books as per school policy
  • Providing constructive feedback
  • Ensuring adherence to behavioural policies

What You’ll Need to Succeed: To be successful as an Early Years Supply Teacher, it is essential to have a strong understanding and knowledge of the National Curriculum. This will enable you to effectively teach across different year groups. To excel in this role, your teaching approach must be both flexible and adaptable. This adaptability will allow you to employ different teaching methods while maintaining high standards and fostering a positive outlook. The ideal candidate will demonstrate resilience, determination, and a strong commitment to upholding the school’s values. A passion for professional growth, creative thinking, and proven experience in subject leadership combined with a vision for driving improvement—are also crucial attributes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute your skills and enthusiasm to a dynamic teaching environment, having a meaningful impact on children’s learning and development.

You should be/have:

  • An outstanding practitioner eager to make a positive impact as an Early Years Supply teacher
  • Skilled at engaging and enthusing pupils in their learning
  • Knowledgeable about assessment, feedback, and differentiation
  • Recent teaching experience within the last five years
  • Hold a QTS, PGCE, or ECT qualification

  • Flexible working options are available.
  • In return for working as a Supply Teacher in Solihull, through Hays, you will have one point of contact with one of our dedicated consultants.
  • You will have the opportunity to work with different schools, allowing you to explore your options.
  • You will also gain a competitive rate of pay.
